Patty, a single mom of two facing
homelessness, who had been unable to work because her four-year-old
son born with severe birth defects requires round-the-clock care.
The home she could afford was not safe for a critically ill child.
Operation Home made it safer.
Mattie, 63, who is the fulltime
caregiver for her 72 year-old sister, a double-amputee, and her
101 year-old mother—all sweetgrass makers. The two older
women are wheelchair-bound, living in a home with rotten floors
and limited wheelchair accessibility. Operation Home made their
home more accessible.
Louis, 83 year old veteran with
“one lung and half a heart” by his reckoning, who
needed an air conditioner to help him cope better with the heat.
Operation Home’s Heat Relief program provided him and others—over
70 last year and 100 this year—with window air conditioners.
